What is the importance of Bandaging & Dressing?
             The importance of  of Bandaging & Dressing is, it will help stop the bleed, and it will also protect the wounds from getting infected.

When will we use Bandaging & Dressing?
  • severe bleeding
  • open wounds and etc.
Where will we put the Bandage and Dressing?
  • in open wounds
Why?
  • to stop the severe bleeding
How?
  • clean the patients wound 
  • let the patient set comfortably (if fractured or what..)
  • get a cloth (optional)
  • wrap it into the wound....

Home Nursing Techniques; Signs & Symptoms of Illnesses & Diseases

1.  If you are a good home nurse, what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that   
     will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?
  • Making an unoccupied bed
  • Making an occupied bed
  • Taking the patient vital signs
  • Bathing the patient           
2.  Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
      To know when the patient health is getting better or worst.

3.  How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
      Using a digital thermometer,gently place it under the patients arm feet. Place your two finger just below the wrist creases at the base of the thumb. Press lightly until you feel a pulse (blood pulsing under your fingers). If necessary, move fingers around until you feel the pulse. Using a stethoscope,place it in/on the patients chest or back. Tell the patient to inhale and exhale while you are checking his/her respiratory rate. To check the patient's blood pressure,wrap the BP cuff around the patient's arm and place the bell-shaped end of the stethoscope on the inside of the elbow where the pulse can be felt. Then squeeze the rubber caff to inflate it until pulsation can no longer be heard. Release air slowly.

4.  What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will
      promote comfort to the patient?
  • clean the patient's room
  • change the bedsheets daily
  • read the patient some story
  • check his/her vital signs
  • give him/her a bed bath/back rub
  • give the right medicines             
5.  How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and
     diseases?  Symptoms is the signs of the disease,while disease is an abnormal condition cause by a harmful bacteria. 

6.  If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?
  • COMPLAINT: What's wrong?
  • SEX AND AGE: Male/Female - birthdate
  • ONSET: When did it start?
  • PALLIATIVE: What relieves your symptoms?
  • PROVOCATIVE: What provokes your symptoms?
  • QUALITY: How would you describe the symptoms? Sharp? stabbing?, sore? uncomfortable? nausea? achy? throbbing? ripping? tearing?
  • RADIATING: Do the symptoms or pain radiate to another area of your body?
  • SEVERITY: On a scale of 1 - 10, how would you rate your pain or discomfort?
  • TIMING: How often do the symptoms occur?

Making the Bed & Bathing the Patient

Making A Bed

1. Why do we need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed?
               We need to learn how to make an unoccupied  and occupied bed. Because this will help us and the patient. Because if we know how to make an unoccupied bed & occupied bed,it will not be very messy for us to remove and to put the bedding's in the bed. For the patient, they will be comfortable.

2. How does making a bed help in the fast recovery of our patient?
                Because a clean and neat bed can avoid or can help the patient recover for the better and not for the worst.

3. As a good home nurse, how will you be able to render your services to your patient through bed making?   I will make sure the his/her bedding's is clean and neat. And with the procedures, it does not requires the patient to move and move.

 Bathing the Patient

1. Why do you need to give a bath to the patient?
                To keep the patient's body fresh and clean.

2. What are the materials needed for bed bath or sponge bath?
                2 big towels, 2 small towels,rubber sheet, a basin with warm water,soap and light blanket.

3. What’s the importance of using a urinal or bedpan?
                It's important because some patients are expected to remain in the beds through this urinal or bedpan.

 4. What do you mean by back rub?
                A back rub is given to refresh the patient's body.

5. How do you differentiate cold compress from hot compress?
                Cold Compress is an absorbent cloth is dipped into a cold water and it helps to relieve the pain,while Hot compress it is the application of heat to a small area with hot gauze or hot compress cloth and it increases circulation locally.

Administering of Medicines to the Patient

1. What significant insights have you learned from the topic? 
       I learned many basic procedures on how to administrate medicine to a patient. And the proper procedures on administering medicines. Especially in Eardrops,Eyedrops and Nasaldrops. Because this organs are very sensitive. One mistake may risk the life of the patient or the patient will lose that organ.
2. How does proper administering of medicines helps our patients in their recovery?
       If we do the proper way in administering medicines,we will be able to avoid distractions or infection to the patient. And through this procedures, it can already help the patient recover from their illness.

Health Care is important for the individual. Because every individual need to take care of their health.

Health Care is important for a family. Because if the family does not value the important of health care. The family will be weak because of illness.
